I do communications with a Mettler/Toledo Jaguar and JagXtreme scale
interfaces. I don't have any experience with Compsee, though.
Most scales can be programmed to report the weight in several different
ways. I know that the ones we have are able to send the weight
automatically when the weight on the scale settles. They're also able to
send it when the user presses a button on the scale interface.
On the Jaguar models that I work with, you're able to do more complex
things as well. I can write entire programs that run on the scale and can
do whatever you dream up. The JagXtreme even has a sockets interface so
it can connect TCP/IP to my RPG programs and talk to them.
My recommendation to you is to find the manual for the scale. You might
even want to talk to the manufacturer to see if they have a separate
programming manual (separate from the basic "owner's manual") since that
will help you out tremendously.

We are changing out the terminal and scanners. The current configuration
uses a PSC 5310IP4302 scanner with a Compsee QL501 interface connecting
to an NCI 7880 scale.
