You know at first that is EXACTLY what I was thinking. When I searched on
that SRC it ended up in an install section pointing to the door on the tape
unit not being closed well...

But I had no idea how to confirm that. Did a SLIC CD come with the thing ?

And hey, I just noticed something. On our 810 here we have an SLR100 tape
unit (I never have used it since we have the 3590 and I was just digging
through the boxes that everything came in and found a cleaning cartridge
that was OBVIOUSLY not for the 3590...) should that be able to read a tape
from the SLR 5 ? The have some backup tapes that I could possibly restore
the needed libraries from.

Thanks !

Chuck

Comment if you disagree - but the more I think abou this, when this box
was decommissioned, this almost sounds like someone went and scratched
the disk and installed SLIC with an automatic D-side IPL and then
powered it off before it was done... It's like it's looking for some
install media to continue on with the install and can't find it, which
is why you're seeing alternate IPL device failures, whether or not
you're on A, B, D... Just thinking aloud, but if you can boot off a CD
it sure would shed more light on this.
