I think it's best to just give Joe the last word on this one. He's pretty passionate about the iSeries, (like many of us), and regardless of statistics, he'll have a counter for anything thrown up. Doing so will allow us to move on to other topics. :-) Rob Berendt -- Group Dekko Services, LLC Dept 01.073 PO Box 2000 Dock 108 6928N 400E Kendallville, IN 46755 http://www.dekko.com "Joe Pluta" <joepluta@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 04/08/2005 01:26 PM Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To "'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion'" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc Subject RE: The IBM iSeries word from FOSE... > From: Mike.Crump@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > > While I still think that downtime and security are issues I normally try > to > downplay them more than we have in the past. Mike, I don't know why you would downplay availability. While Wintel numbers may indeed be getting better, they still have a LOOOOONG way to go before they come close to iSeries numbers. You CAN get pretty good numbers using redundant systems, but then you really have issues of complexity (as well as cost).
