We have just started imaging here at CrossCheck. We are using IMS21 from
Vanguard Systems, Inc. The AS400 host all the data in DB2 and the Images
are scanned to a share in Netserver on the IFS where they are then written
to a UDO optical server that is directly attached to the AS400. They also
offer a PC with large disk space for what they call Hyper Cache. This
allows you to use cheap PC disk to store a copy of images that have been
written to optical instead of the ISF. Of course the scanning station are
all PC's but the application writes the images to the IFS and puts the index
in a data base on the AS400.

Our company is going through a massive 5s (housecleaning) charlie foxtrot.
Imaging of paper bound objects is becoming a big issue. Any thoughts or
advice on an iSeries based imaging software product? I'm pretty big on
keeping this all in my iSeries low TCO, automatic, doesn't take a lot of
people to manage environment (if you need more information look at the
laughing boardroom commercials) so I'm not really interested in working
with a product that forces you to use an additional server - I'd really
like this thing to be as native as possible...
