This is just a guess, but maybe there's some attribute set on the 2003 server that the iSeries doesn't support? When Windows copies the file, it tries to also copy that attribute -- but the iSeries doesn't support it, so it fails.

It seems to me that the difference between saving a file from Word, and copying it from an existing source is that you're creating a brand new file on disk instead of copying an existing one. And possibly, the special attribute isn't being set in that case, so you can freely copy it to the iSeries.

I'm not experienced enough with Win2003 to tell you what the attribute might be, unfortunately. But maybe this'll lead you in the right direction?

No I try to copy it to a "normal" directory in the IFS.
I recognized followings:
copying from Win Server 2003 directory to AS/400 IFS directory --> doesn't' work.
copying from Win Server 2003 directory to local client (C:\) and then to AS/400 IFS directory --> doesn't' work.
If I open the word file with word, change a character in the document and save it back to c:\ after that, I can copy it from the local client C:\ drive (directory) to AS/400 IFS directory ! ! !
