Re: Dumb adopted authority question


If I am signed on as QSECOFR, and run a program (ILE CL) that is owned by a normal user and has USRPRF(*OWNER), what is the programs effective authority? QSECOFR or the users?

It seems that, at the heart of the matter, is the question "Can adopting authority via USRPRF(*OWNER) cause QSECOFR's effective authority to be degraded?"

Based on the fact that you're asking the question, I'd say the answer is probably yes.

To find out, I'd suggest making a copy of the program in question, and use the CHGPGM command to make it USRPRF(*USER). Run it again, as QSECOFR, and see if it solves the problem. If it does, you know that the adopted authority is what's fouling you up.

If not, you know that there's something else going on.
