Chris,

Thanks for this info.
Do you have or know where I can find a
"a simple and basic configuration of the SMTP service"
that I could use to configure ours?

John

You can make the iSeries act as its own SMTP server using the SMTP and Mail
Server Framework services. Our MS Exchange servers require authentication,
but this only applies when sending email out from those servers, or when
connecting with a client to receive email. Using a simple and basic
configuration of the SMTP service on our iSeries machines, we are able to
send email messages to the Exchange servers without any trouble.

We'd never print it. But, after IBM gets the wrong figures off of it,
we'd do analysis of it.

subject: Qshell Jar on IFS directory

Hi,

We have a lot of xml-documents .
We want to compress older documents in specific IFS-diretories .

The compress -using Qshell jar - ends OK,
but the compressed file does not always contain all the documents of the
directory.

The worst thing is, this happens without any errormessage ...

is there a maximum number of documents in a directory that can be compressed
(V5R2) ?
(the uncomplete zipped file has a size less then 2G)

How can we detect an incomplete compress ?

subject: V5R3 barcode problem

I have an odd situation on a i5 v5r3. I save/restored the
config for an ipds printer, and using psf/400.
Everything prints exactly as before except one 3 of 9
barcode, which is twice as long as normal, and running off
the page. The following dds was used
A @CERT4 16 (POSITION 11.40 3.10)
                       BARCODE(CODE3OF9 1)
same printer file has other barcodes (postnet & code128).
Spool compiled as *afpds. All other fonts, etc appear as before.
Nothing changed from prev system to this system.
No errors in job log.
This barcode is printing approx 4 inches long and should be 2 - 2 1/2.
Data in field has not changed.
Have searched print ptf docs in knowledge base.
Hard to do a support call when not on site w/printer..
any ideas appreciated

You could use RUNSQLSTM with the appropriate SQL in a source member. If
you are able to install a small (free) application on the machine then
you could use my EXCSQL to run your SQL directly

The SQL parm supports expressions if you need to set the year & month
dynamically.
