Hi,

I'll answer myself to my question : I've finally found a way to write a CL
which ends all subsystems, uses QMNSAVE to save the whole system on tape and
makes an IPL. IPL can be replaced by a restart of the subsystems. It seems to
work very well. It has only to be started in QCTL. What's a little bit
frightening is that console is not available while saving. But with the new
parameter BCHTIMLMT of ENDSBS we are sure that system restarts. The revolution
is that a "GO SAVE 21" equivalent program can be scheduled in V5R3.

If someone is interested, I can share this CL.

Regards.

Hi,

I've heard many things about new possibilities of V5R3 in saving domain :
- SAVSYS is now possible in batch.
- A subsystem can stay active after ENDSBS *ALL.
- ...

Are there other problems that could prevent us from making scheduled full
system backup without using BRMS ? I've searched everywhere I could and I
didn't find any example of how to do that, if it is possible. I know about the
programs to use, QMNSAVE and QMNSRBND, and their parameters. But can we use
them simply in a CL started by the job scheduler, perhaps in a special
subsystem ?

Thanks.
