Memory Lane

        The emergency pull switch was on all 360 models and Sys/3 model 
machines. It continued many years after,
        on quite a few more models.

        When you pulled this switch, it killed all power to all devices 
attached to the cpu, including of course , the cpu.

        Apart from fire threat, and vandalism, there was always the possibility 
that someone might get pieces of their 
        clothing caught in the operational devices (particularly ties in chain 
printers), and this switch was a quick and 
        efficient way to save the day
