I presume that this was in jest. Support for the HP3000 is going away, and many 3000 users are looking at porting to the 400. One of the secrets of the 400 is that it supports ASCII as well as EBCDIC collating sequences. It could be that porting your application to a different server environment might help to illuminate i5 - iSeries benefits that customers hadn't previously considered. I found a product via google search that claims to allow iSeries applications to be converted into compatible formats for other server environments including AIX. Since there is already a version of DB2 for AIX, the RPG application conversion is probably your biggest challenge in considering a port from RPGLE to a language available with AIX. http://www.pks.de/products/iSeries/migration_tools_400.htm Good luck with the project. I hope we never see the i5 - iSeries operating system compromised in the manner outlined by your company's owner though. -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
