Most of our staff here is still using RLA, and some people are going to use it until they day they die, but the guys who work for me all use lots of SQL for database access. We haven't really used views yet because we didn't see much of a performance benefit over just writing the join in the SELECT statement (not that our testing was very scientific -- there may well be performance benefits we don't know about). But I never thought about using them in this fashion (to help end-users using query tools). And we all know the database pretty well; I'm now thinking they could also help out new team members who are unfamiliar with our system. Mike E.
