I solved this one. The DDS & data were all ok.

I added parameter RPLNULLVAL(*FLDDFT) to the CPYFRMIMPF command and it fixed
it all up.

What is reason code 4? 
If I remember right it's a field mapping error.
You should have information in the error text which tells you which 
field(s). 
Also, you may have other errors, look at the previous messages.

I am copying from a comma delimited file into a PF. I gets most of the way
through, but there are multiple errors "The copy did not complete for 
reason
code 4." It eventually ends with an error CPF2817. Is the problem more 
than
likely with the input data I'm being given or the file definition?
