Are you sure you got the iSeries?  For example, did you get the following 
after login?
OS/400 is the remote operating system. The TCP/IP version is "V5R2M0".

Looks like you cut and pasted so I'll assume your crtlib didn't have any 
typo's.

On the remote system, if you do a

Does an option 8 in front of any get any hits?

one iSeries to another?
