Vern, It is now set up as a device and a remote outq (*prtlan)  but still does 
not work. The printer also has a client bridge so I am not sure if a Jet Direct 
can also be added.

You've probably seen the ASCII printer info in the knowledge base - what 
does it say about your printer? Or maybe you can set it up with a JetDirect 
that understands your Monarch printer? Then a *LAN printer device is the 
ticket.
