We just received our new 810. That's the good news.

We have opted to not follow the usual upgrade route (upgrade old box,
savsys, restore), and our understanding is that we'd have to install the OS
when it arrived.

Now, the problem.

If I set the front panel to "B N" it IPLs, and presents a sign-on screen. It
will not, however, take 'QSECOFR', '11111111', '22222222', etc.

If I set it to 'D M' and put the I_BASE CD in, it fails to find the console,
and hangs
perpetually on a SRC code of 'A6005004'.

In both cases, nothing has physically changed. (twinax terminal connected to
port 0)

I've been poring over docs all day, and they all start out 'turn on machine,
log-in to DST, ...', but we can't even *get* to DST. (One even says that the
machine should be in 'B M' mode to IPL, then says 'Select function 02, and
set to AM'. In the same sentence even.)

Can anyone enlighten me on what I need to do to get this installation going?
Docs? Advice?
