I agree, Jim. Malcolm's got it started, and we need to help him. Buy the
merchandise, and wear it around. I just bought personalized
iSeries.mySeries shirts for my team of 6 and the CIO. Get a bumper sticker
and put it on something, get a lapel pin and wear it. When I first heard
the iSeries.mySeries tag line in Feb I added it to my e-mail signature.

IBM can't do it alone, they need the help of the iNation in spreading the
word. They've made a move (finally), but for it to become a force they need
us, the faithful, behind it. If they find there's a tangible result they
might just keep going, if we help it to fizzle by not getting on board we've
got no one but ourselves to blame.

Folks IMHO this effort's reasonable, and has some substance (even
merchandise available from Land's End). It's time to join in, don't just be
a bystander. There's nothing wrong with the i5 name, the Mac bigots don't
have any problem with the Power based G5. It's a chance to overcome our
years of skepticism and cynicism (well deserved as they are) and try for a
new beginning.

i like i5....
i like the iSeries.mySeries campaign
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/iseriesmyseries/
i like they are doing a major roadshow to get the word out.
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/bigevent/
i like they did a "to management" video (see "Presentations & videos in
right column)
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/announce/
more videos
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/iseriesmyseries/videos.html
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/nation/videos.html
i like the posters and presentation material (spread the word) (we need a
monster coffee cup?)
and waiting for the screen saver...
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/iseriesmyseries/downloads.html
i even like i can wear an iSeries tech shirt when onsite at customers
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/iseriesmyseries/apparel.html

ibm is marketing the box - be happy!
the name change allows ibm increased exposure in the media, and signals to
business this
is something new. Name any other computer co that kept the same product name
for 16 years?
for customers who are "as/400 oriented" i call it an iSeries i5, the next
generation of AS/400's.
