I heard that at one time IBM had approached MS and IBM wanted the API's documented, etc. and MS balked. And IBM said forget it because they did not want to "destabilize" the, at the time, AS/400-OS/400. Then MS came back to IBM some time latter but not sure where that went... This was from Dr. Frank at the end of a deal he was doing years ago... Chuck
