Joe, I see that you mention jetspeed briefly in your article. I believe that the Websphere Portal offerings are based on Jetspeed (Jakarta - Open Source). I have previously tried to get Jetspeed running under tomcat 3.2.4 on the Iseries and failed. I recently gave it another go, installing Jetspeed into Websphere Express, and hey presto, works like a charm, and with no errors. Just installed straight from the Jetspeed war file, no modifications to classpaths or anything. (Havent had time to do anything more than Hello World and play with some of the settings yet though). So this is another option if people want to have go at portlets on the iseries cheers Colin.W ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe Pluta" <joepluta@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "'Midrange Systems Technical Discussion'" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, March 09, 2004 8:38 PM Subject: Portlets > I'm not sure how many people here are looking into portals and portlets. > Personally, I think they're going to be a very important part of the > next generation of web-based UIs, and so I've been doing a lot of > preliminary work with them.
