It's not clear who is sending to whom. If the iSeries is the destination, you can ftp directly into your library, if the physical file is created properly - no packed fields, basically. Or have a logical file over a physical file - the logical would map packed fields in the physical to zoned fields in the logical - works fine.

ftp to iSeries is no big deal - you need to start the server, and that's about it. STRTCPSVR *FTP does it. The only thing to be aware of is a thing called name format - look up NAMEFMT in InfoCenter.

There is a TCP/IP Reference, as well as a specific book on ftp at InfoCenter, with everything you need between them.
