Whenever I want to read data from 2 subfiles on the screen at the same time
I do this:

Write formatLeftSide
Write formatRigthSide
Read formatLeftSide
Read formatRightSide

When the user selects data from one (or both) of the screens and presses
enter, you get the input from both of them. So you should be able to
determine what the selection was on the left side and display it on the
right without having to recycle.
