"Metz, Zak" <Zak_Metz@xxxxxx> To: "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion" Sent by: <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> midrange-l-bounces@mi cc: drange.com Subject: System Handbook v4r5? 12/07/2003 08:10 AM Please respond to Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Zak, The handbook is actually written in Rochester by Susan Powers and her team and in some ways it IS a composition of previous books as it does contain the 'speeds and feeds' of previous systems in the latter chapters. To keep all the gory detail for all the systems would make the thing prohibitivly large and difficult to use. Consider if every feature ever made was described in detail in there whether it was sold or even supported any longer, that would make for an unusable volume. For those of us that use this book and it's counterpart the System Builder every single day we only have one Christimas wish (are you listening Rochester?): Please cooperate with Susan and her team and get them every piece of information they need as soon and as accurate as humanly possible so that we can have accurate and complete manuals as early as possible in each release cycle. Now is that too much to ask? - Larry ps: I sent Zak a copy of the V4R5 manual off-list. Speaking of not being able to find books, is there some reason the InfoCenter can't compile all the System Handbooks into one complete volume? I'm tring to find the handbook for the 170-2292 I just ordered (my new home system!). That should be the v4r5 version of the book. All links I can find to that actually point to the v5r2 book, proudly titled "Systemm Handbook." Can anyone help me out with the real one? Regards, Z
