When you say various, not sure what you tried.
IBM Knowledge Base doc for HP printers says
this is a pcl3 printer, the PDT is hpdskjt.pdt and
the mfrtypmdl for hpt is *hp520. It does not support pjl.

Also - if you are sending 132 column printouts to an 80 column
printer, depending upon override printer file on iSeries and
printer control panel, it may rotate and shrink or cut stuff off.
I would test 1st with something that is only portrait 80 column,
with ovrprtf to only 80 column  66 lpp 10 cpi 6 lpi
and get that nailed down first.
And do you have latest service pack for CAE your using?
(CA without any svc pack is unpredictable)
Also check the Support Pages for recommended printer ptfs (often
not in cumes) for your OS400 release.
