Would CHGPGM FRCCRT(*YES) do anything for you? Probably just as bad as recompiles.

We have a bunch of SQLRPG objects from older versions (maybe 3.1 or 3.2) that are bombing after restoring them to a 5.2 box. The program keeps opening new ODP's. None get reused. After the program runs a while, the program bombs due to too many open ODP's (I don't have the MCHxxxx msg ID handy.) The programs worked fine on 5.1 and earlier.

Eventually, we either run out of disk space (if the optimizer decides that a copy of a large file is more efficient than an access path) or the program bombs (some overflow space seems to get clobbered) and generates about a 50,000 page joblog.

A recompile under 5.1 or 5.2 does solve the problem. But, for numerous reasons this is not practical to do on a system wide basis.

STROBJCNV does not help. I'm also pretty sure that CRTSQLPKG did not work either.

An APAR has ben opened w/ IBM, but if someone else has run into this it can save us some time.

TIA.
