These are all listed as single state zips in my files, but i guess based on the anecdotal evidence provided below, it must be listing only the state where the post office resides for that zip. ---------original message------- > could you post an example? these are not cities but zip code and state from the US Census 10004 - NY and NJ 37642 - TN and VA 38041 - AR and TN 38063 - AR and TN 38079 - KY and TN 38852 - AL and MS 42223 - KY and TN 51630 - IA and MO 51640 - IA and MO 52626 - IA and MO 52761 - IA and IL many more jim -----another one------------- I can give you one example because I live in the area where it occurs. I live in Muscatine, Iowa which is right on the Mississippi River and whose zip code is 52761. There is no town immediately across the river (in Illinois) from Muscatine, so there is an area of Illinois which is served by the Muscatine Post Office. This means that those people have a Iowa mailing address, but physically reside in Illinois. (You can imagine the problems these folks have when trying to explain this to some government agency and it's bureaucrats!)
