I would say it is ALWAYS good to have more memory. Faulting doesn't tell the whole story any more. Especially if you have any SQL or Query or ODBC etc. on the system - because the SQL optimizer(s) will look at how much memory is available when deciding which way to process, and this could mean a huge performance difference. One 'IBM' recommendation which used to be 1Gb memory per processor went up to 2Gb per processor with latest versions of OS.
