FTP (to iSeries) Question

Hi Folks,
 
Have a problem at a remote site. I need to get an .EXE PC program to two
PC's that do not have CD drives and the program is too big for floppies.
I FTP'd this program to our iSeries from a PC that had the program and
then FTP'd it down to one of these CD-less PC's and it was not usable...
 
So do I need to set the mode of FTP (or whatever it is called) to ASCII
for this to work ? I (maybe falsely) assume this was the default...
