There are just too many limitations to the QDLS file system. I strongly suggest picking a different directory. You can set up shares on these other directories. Do you get this same error when you try to do this on a different directory, not under QDLS? Please understand that often the new file from a GUI application may be called something like "New copy of oldfile.txt". That, does not fit into the 8.3 scheme forced by QDLS. That's just one of the many limitations of that directory. Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." I was tryign to copy down a directory udnerneath it from a widnows computer. It will start copying and then come up with a "file in use" error. In the qezjoblog, I get this message: 40 09/01/03 21:01:07 QODOPEN QSYS 1AEF QODCOMOP QSYS To module . . . . . . . . . : QODCOPN To procedure . . . . . . . : qod_open__FPv11qodFMStsp_tLcs Statement . . . . . . . . . : 352 Message . . . . : Document QHXQ242970 not changed to type needed. Cause . . . . . : Document QHXQ242970 in folder *NONE could not be changed to the type needed. For example, the word processing function cannot edit documents that are in PC data format. If the folder name is *NONE or *INTDOC, then QHXQ242970 is a system object name. If the folder name is *NONE, then the document is a filed document that is not in a folder. If the folder name is *INTDOC, then the document is not a filed document and is not in a folder. Recovery . . . : See any previously listed messages for additional recovery information. If there are no previously listed messages, then the document type is not correct. Create the document again. If this is not an RFTDCA (Revisable Form Text Document Content Architecture) document but you are creating it on a personal computer, do not use RFT as an extension. Any input?
