Working as a software vendor, and one that supplies regular updates, it
becomes obvious that attempting to support multiple older versions becomes
expensive. While I am sure Microsoft has the means to support all their OS
versions, there are economic reasons for "retiring" a product and "forcing"
you to upgrade. Now they have added Win95 to their unsupported software,
there is no reason for them to write mouse drivers for it any more. If you
want to upgrade to the latest technology (wireless), being "forced" to
update to the latest technology (WinNT or beyond) should not be an issue.

Think of the automobile industry. Cars are built with planned obsolescence,
and the manufacturers want us to update on a regular basis - which does seem
to keep the industry viable. The same could be said of the software
industry. One difference is that there is a thriving industry dealing in
maintaining second hand cars for years. Imagine finding an IBM PC from 1981,
restoring it to its former glory and using it at work every day!!!

With technology changing as much as it has, we live in a different world
today than when Win95 was released. Doesn't the same apply to OS400?
