Rick, I agree, SQL seems a solid choice, especially if you are creating the statement on the fly, but I have to ask, what do you find 'error prone' in using opnqryf? it's pretty strait forward, and rock solid IMO. rick ------original message------- Why not use SQL? It's lends itself to being built on the fly and is less error prone than an OPNQRYF statement. The performance would be about the same I think. Rick
