Scott,

There's some wrong info in the section not supported after V5R1.....

Performance Tools, 5722 PT1 is there at V5R2. Just checked it on my 270
at V5R2. I think what they meant to say is the Best/1 Modeling tool is
no longer in Performance Tools after V5R1. That in fact is not there at
V5r2.

Regards,

Mike Shaw

The word from a local BP(dated Fall 2002) is:

Hardware and Software NOT supported AFTER V4R5:
> 1/2" Reel Tape Drive (2440/3422/3430/9347)
> Integrated Fax Adapter (2664)
> Integrated PC Server (2850/2851/6616)
> 3995 Optical Library (A43/043/143/042/142)
> 3995 Optical Library (C40/C42/C44/C46/C48)
> 9331 Diskette Drive (1/2)

Hardware and Software NOT supported AFTER V5R1:
> AS/400 Models 436, 400, 40S, 500, 510, 530, 50S, 53S
> 13GB 1/4" Tape Drive
> ISDN Adapters (2750/2751/4750/4751)
> PCI Integrated Analog Modem - Non-Fax(2761/4761)
> NetVista Thin Clients
> Client Access for Windows 95 (5722-XE1)
> AS/400 Performance Tools (5722-PT1)
> IPX Protocol for OS/400

Hardware and Software NOT supported AFTER V5R2:
> AS/400 Models 150, 6xx, S10, S20, S30, S40, SB1
> PCI Integrated Analog Modem - Fax(2761/4761)
> ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) Technology
> Client Access for Windows 98 & Windows Me
> Windows Network Neighborhood (iSeries Netserver)
> Integrated xSeries Server (IXS) - Windows NT 4.0
> OS/400 Option 4 - S/36 and S/38 Migration
> OS/400 Option 11 - S/36 Migration Assistance
> RSTS36FLR - Restore S/36 Folder

Statement of Direction:
> Support for AIX on iSeries
> Withdraw Support for SPD bus-attached I/O
> Withdraw Support for IBM HTTP Server (Original)

Hope I didn't make any typo's here. That said there's a big difference
(as
previously noted) between "not supported" and "won't work." Also, I'm
certain that not all of this info is completely correct, e.g. My test
system
is on V5R2 and 5722PT1 is installed and at V5R2, though Best/1 is no
longer
there. Also I think that the Netserver not supported after V5R2 only
refers
to Windows 95.

ALSO NOTE: October 8, 2003 is the last day to order upgrades from 7xx
models
to 8xx models!

Mike,

Not that I have a business reason to care, but I wonder about that also.

I don't see any statements like:
"AS/400 Models 436, 400, 40S, 500, 510, 530, 50S, 53S are not planned to

be supported by OS/400 releases after V5R1. "
Which I see at:

Will 5.3 even run on a 720. That is what we have and I thought 5.2 was
the
last "supported" version?
