Mark, Good points below. There are only 3 of us and 1 is a newbie. We rotate being on call for a week at a time. I do not want to get ANY calls in the middle of the night and if I can avoid them I do. Unfortunately as the vendor is the only one offering this particular software on the AS400 platform right now, we can only give them so much grief. We are kind of over a barrel. I would also give the vendor some grief too, how your system is with regards to libraries should not have any effect on their code, if it does, their code is being very narrow minded as how to run, what if you, God forbid, still have S/36 stuff on your box, hey - if it works (ain't broke) why fix it. HTH Mark -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Debbie Panco Sent: Tuesday, April 01, 2003 4:00 PM To: MIDRANGE Subject: Group, We converted from a S38 to an AS400 quite a while back. However, we do still have some physical and logical files that have never been recreated so they are sitting out there with a 38 attribute. Most of our programs have been recompiled already as AS400 objects with a few still lingering around as 38. (Note that we do still have QSYS38 in our library list.) We are having an issue with a 3rd party software vendor who wants us to get rid of the QSYS38 library as their position is that it's existence is causing problems within their software. So here is my question..... We want to recompile all of our physical and logical files as AS400. Do we then need to recompile all of the programs that sit over those files? What would be the ramifications (if any) of not recompiling the AS400 programs or (if we missed some) in not recompiling the 38 programs that would then sit over the AS400 files?
