Mike, We use SPSS's Showcase and ASC's SEQUEL product here. We are moving most of our stuff to Showcase but some of that is due to a direction where we wanted to consolidate most of our BI and reporting tools under one vendor. Our major effort was initially with Showcases ESSBASE implementation on the iSeries. So ESSBASE was a major decision point for us and that would most likely not be relevant to you. But I can tell you that we are pretty happy with our Showcase implementation at this point. We are also fairly satisfied with our Sequel product despite our moving more and more away from it (by the way - we will most likely never completely eliminate it). My biggest issue with SEQUEL is their licensing. Showcase is not a cheap solution but I've had much more aggravation with ASC over licensing than most any of my other products. I would negotiate heavily to cover your upgrade path from upgrade charges now while you are looking at other products. I will never buy into a licensing structure like what we have now ever again..... HTH PS - if you'd like to hear anything more about Showcase you can contact me off-line..... Most of the data will originate on our AS/400, but some is in PC-based databases (MS Access), so the ability to mix data from both sources would be a plus (but maybe not a show-stopper, since the IS dept has been trying for years to move everything to the AS/400). Right now, we're looking at a product called QlikView, by QlikTech; ASC's SEQUEL and FYI; and COGNOS. Does anyone have any experiences with any of these products that you'd like to share? I found a thread on SEQUEL a while back in the archives, and a few references to COGNOS, but they're two or three years old. I'm interested in the basic things - speed, ease of use, ease of setup, flexibility, end-user satisfaction, etc. Anything anyone would like to share with me would be great, and if you'd prefer to reply privately that's fine. Thanks very much!
