No, not a scratch install, just pretend you have V4R5 and you're upgrading to V5R1. Sure you'd actually be upgrading from V5R1 to V5R1 but it should work. Example, IBM sent me a test ptf. I accidentally applied it permanently. Now they've refreshed that particular ptf. Same ptf #, different function. Now I cannot apply it without doing what I just suggested to you to do (but I'd be using V5R2). I am trying the backdoor and see if IBM will issue a superceed. I would rather not, because I'm uncomfortable with the fact that I don't have any disks for WebSphere, and that WebSphere 3.5SE is sketchily supported, at best, in V5R1. Right now, WebSphere works and allows me to do what I need to do. I'd hate to do a scratch install and find out that I have to jump through some other hoops to install and configure WebSphere.
