Linux Terminal Look-a-like for Win

A while ago on this list (like 1-2 years) there was mention of a piece of
software that would create multiple desktops, accessible just like a Linux
GUI where you could pop between screens/sessions (4 desktops instead of
one).  I have searched high and low for this piece of freeware and cannot
find it.  Could someone point me in the right direction?  Thanks.
