Jim, what is your internal IP-scheme ? Is it 192.168.0.x ? The console over that serial cable uses a "modem-device" and a ppp-like connection with tcpip adress pair of 192.168.0.1 and 0.2 to establish a session between pc and AS/400. You CANNOT use this network numbers for other purposes, nor can you change it for that serial connection. I had very strange results before I found out about this. YES, there is an option in DST to change that network numbers, but as I found out in long experiments with several IBM calls this doesn't always "stick" to another number, sometimes on next IPL you are back on the old IPs.
