-----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@midrange.com [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Al Barsa >Late breaking news tonight. Buell Duncan (perhaps the best AS/400 GM ever) >is departing for software group. Respectfully, what did he accomplish? When I heard him on past call in talks he never said anything that I took note of. Has he brought young, smart people into the technical side of the organization? Infocenter may be small stuff, but why did he never act to get that straightened out? V5R1 RPG is a good language and has me thinking the iSeries has a future. Why is rpg being starved of the resources needed to improve it even more with things like procedure overloading, typed pointers, and object constructor and destructor procedures? Why are IBMers absent from iSeries news groups and such? Answering a customers question in a public forum has to be many times more effective than doing it thru a one on one phone call. We would like to use XML and SOAP where I work, which would lead to a system upgrade. If IBM was available to answer such a question that might be just what is needed to get us going on it. Otherwise he seemed like a good guy :) Steve
