Look at chapter 11,  RPG and the eBusiness World.

RPG with Java works well. It gives RPG access to many usefull Java objects.

Points to note:

1. Your environment variable CLASSPATH must be set up correctly. You might
want to make a call to the 'C' routine putenv in your production
applications.

2. Java is not as fast as RPG. Your will notice the difference. If you are
making use of your own homegrown Java objects, I would recommend using the
CRTJVAPGM command and optimise to level 40 or some other suitable value.
This will add OS/400 native code to your classes and make a noticable
difference with regards to performance.
