Steve,

If you are looking for alternatives, I would strongly suggest you consider
the NewLook product from www.looksoftware.com . It is a 5250 data stream
interpreter tool rather than a screen scraper.

Trevor Perry (who is a regular on this list and at COMMON) can give you the
best rundown on the Seagull product. Although he works for look software, he
will give you a straight answer.

If you're interested in a client-server tool, check out AVR from ASNA. They
do some remarkable things

I can also give you the phone number of a guy who can give you first hand
experience with trying to deploy Seagull into his software company's
package. I understand that the effort was huge, not to mention trying to
manage the client mods environments.

Subject: Is anybody using Seagull's new Transidiom software (Screen
Scraper)?

> The company where I am currently working is performing an evaluation of
Seagull Software's Transidiom product as a means for integrating AS/400 data
into a custom client-server order entry system. They are also considering
using it for entering data through the AS/400 screens.

because I am trying to get them to consider OTHER ways of doing this, such
as using ADO/OLE DB or even ODBC. I have a preconception that there could
be major problems using this technology. However, I think that they are
Hell-bent on doing it this way and I need some empirical evidence to help
make recommendations.

side, how much time has been added to the system development cycle?
