Dan, It would seem much simpler for IBM to establish a "Developer Hosting" service. Small developers get VPN or dial-up access to system(s) (various release levels), access to licensed products (for the add-on tools folk), for a reasonable monthly or annual fee. IBM could put some of those older trade-in boxes to use again, and foster closer ties to the small developers out there. That's already an option with some of the AS400 hosting services available, but IBM could bring MUCH added value to this in terms of product and services available to the developer. Some hosting services might be running on an older or unsupported release, or it doesn't have SSL configured, or whatever. IBM could offer special environments as chargeable options to a DevHost subscriber.
