I use it in batch to create zip files of reports for email distribution to Windows users, and it works fine. Start a QShell session and just type jar to get the list of the options & syntax. Thanks Martin. I'll have a closer look at it. I'm not very used to qsh so a couple of questions. 1. There seems to be no return code from STRQSH command. How do errors get trapped. If the qsh nominated command fails does it generate escape messages or what? Do I have to overide STDOUT and parse a file etc? 2. Is there much overhead in invoking the QSH environment? I ask because I may have to invoke it multiple times in a loop (because of the 5000 char limit). 3. How did you find the performance of Jar? Is it written in Java?
