I believe that if you use the *NOMSGLIN keyword the OS thinks that you are not
allowing for a message subfile and puts it's messages in the main panel message
subfile.

If you take out this keyword it should work the way you want.

(I take it from the remainder of your description that you already have a
message subfile defined for the window.)
