Problem has discovered.  We have remote users that dial in to access our
AS/400.  Well last Friday was Good Friday and we all left the office at
12noon.  We shut the modem off for our remote users so that they could not
dial in because we wanted to start our backup processing =) lol.  If they
dialed in it would screw up our backup processsing.  They discovered that
the line was down 3 hours after we shut it off.  So to be notifed sooner if
the line ever goes down again..........a programmer started some telnet
session on a scheduler to run ever 5 minutes to keep hitting the line to see
if it is good or bad.  Once the check was completed, the telnet session
would issue the command "quit".  What a headache that was.  Thanks for all
