B Khan -----Original Message----- From: Reeve Fritchman [mailto:reeve@ltl400.com] Sent: Friday, September 28, 2001 2:43 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange. com Subject: Excel and Client Access Express data upload to iBox When trying to upload alphanumeric data from Excel2000 to the iBox via CAX, CAX gives me a data type error. The file description defines the fields (3-digit ZIP codes and postal codes) as character but CAX gags when it sees a "numeric" ZIP code (even though it's left-justified and has trailing blanks). Changing the Excel data format to ZIP code doesn't work; the rows are currently defined as TEXT. Yes, I can isolate the postal codes and create a separate transfer request, but there must be a way around this. Any hints? Thanks, rf _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l. _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
