To help diagnose the bottleneck, you might use the WRKTCPSTS OPTION(*CNN) screen to show the status of the Mail Server Framework job as it tries to connect to the remote Email server and transmit the message. A new entry will be added to the bottom of the list for the message being sent. If it takes a long time before an entry even shows up, then the problem may be in DNS name resolution which is outside the control of MSF. You can use F11 to display the bytes transmitted. Use the F5 key to refresh the display. When the job is done, the Email entry will be removed from the list. It should give you an indication of how much time is spent sending the message. Sometimes the remote mail server is the bottleneck. It simply may be overburdened. The iSeries may spend most of it's time waiting for a remote connection, or to receive acknowledgements from the remote mail server. > > I'd appreciate any suggestions to improving MSF performance... >
