Hi Tom, > But beyond that, how about some info on your physical setup? How many > adapters are you interfacing with? And how many TCP/IP interfaces do you > have defined? (You mentioned multiple subnets.) How many routes? (I've seen > troubles related to these questions.) And I've lost track of your OS/400 > release. The AS/400 contains a single adapter, single interface (besides the loopback), and two defined routes. Both routes point to the same router on the local subnet. Once at the router, the packets are in the hands of our telecom provider, but a TRACERT consistently shows a direct path between the local and remote routers, with no intermediary hops. The WAN is fully monitored, and I have next day access to a variety of reports that show me what's been happening on the comm links. Bandwidth utilization is under 10%, with an average latency of 25ms. No discarded packets or other errors show up on the reports. The only anomoly appears to be an occasional spike in latency where network delay jumps to around 100ms. However, this is happening in the wee hours of the morning, when nobody is working. OS/400 is currently V4R5, but problem has been apparent with V4R4, V4R3, and possibly V4R2. Yesterday morning, I changed the session keep alive timeout value to 1800 (30 min), and no one has reported a problem since. Now I'll just sit tight and wait to see what happens. John Taylor
