See, whenever a thread is started with the intention of whining about any specific vendor, such a post is inevitable. What is a complaint about a "bug" to one person is often just a difference of opinion between coder and user. In the majority of cases, when you drill down the source of the problem, you find that some coder had to make a decision on how some operation would work. They couldn't make everyone happy and they chose one direction. If we, as programmers, go back and look at the decision, we might point out how we would have done it differently, but we can usually see what the coder was thinking when they did it. In most cases, if it just looks crazy to us, it is because we are too far removed from the actual process to see what the choices were. The solution would be to not have threads that are designed with just the idea of flaming a specific vendor, or group of vendors. That way, real bugs or problems with that vendor don't get lumped in with technical decisions. Instead, each "bug" should have its own thread so that readers skipping a thread that appears to be about a disagreement between coder and user won't miss a real bug report. -- Chris Rehm javadisciple@earthlink.net If you believe that the best technology wins the marketplace, you haven't been paying attention.
