Brian, I've never worked with db/2 for NT, but I would assume that it supports DRDA. It's possible that all you need to do is configure the as400 to connect with your pc server. WRKRDBDIRE should allow you to configure the IP address of your pc. I am not sure if there's any configuration work that must be done on the pc, but you may want to look at documentation about DRDA setup. hth, Eric DeLong Sally Beauty Company MIS-Sr. Programmer/Analyst 940-898-7863 or ext. 1863 -----Original Message----- From: Brian D. James [mailto:bjames@isdsolutions.net] Sent: Monday, August 20, 2001 10:15 AM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: DB2/400 to DB2 on WinNT/2K What is the preferred method to transfer data between DB2/400 and DB2 on WinNT/2000? A WinNT/2000 server running DB2 acts as a front end accepting transactions and performing initial data validation. We need to transfer these transactions to the AS/400 and process them. Once the processing is complete, any changes to the validation tables need to be sent to the WinNT/2K server. Other than an FTP transfer, what is a reliable method to move this data between the two boxes? They are connected through a VPN over the internet. Data Joiner has been ruled out because it requires the netfinity card within the AS/400. Would DB2 Connect be appropriate for this situation? TIA, == Brian D.
