Hello Leif,

not so fast, please, dont take the drive out yet !

Had a customers problem today with the same problem and
I got the drive back to work. They had a power outage
and after the AS/400 came back online one drive was failing.

At first some info:
The model 150 is not able to do RAID because you only have
a non-RAID disk controller (normally 2728)
Normally you have only three positions for disk drives, but
there are enough connectors on the SCSI bus cable for an
additional fourth drive, you only need to mount it to something... :-)

1. Is this drive in failed or missing condition ?
2. go to DST / Analize log and look for errors of that device
3. If it is something like 660x FFF2, youre are perhaps lucky
off: here is an old trick with stuck drives (motor problem)
4. Get yourself a screw driver and carefully hit the backend
of it to the corpus of the drive while the machine is powered on.
You should hear attempts of the motor to start rotation ...
5. If you got so far, try to remove the drive from configuration
through the "work with disk drives" menu from DST.
This assumes you have enough space left on the other drives
but , you mentioned this is DD001, thats the load source. I don't
think you can remove this that simple.
Okay, then you proceed as follows: Get another drive, pu it in the
bus as fourth drive as I described above and go the "disk recovery
porcedures" in DST menus.
6. Try to copy data from DD001 to the newly installed disk "DD004".
This should become your new load source then.

Dont hesitate to contact me back again, this is daily fun for me :-)

Regards from germany, Philipp Rusch
