  • Subject: Re: install DASD a C.E.-only job?

Dan is there any other card the  EMC  DASD will attach through?
That 6501 is Slow. It likely is not allowing  your 3590 to run at  your
400 bus speed  which is likely  slower then 3590 as well.

Is it within the realm of possibility for me to install DASD and a 6501
card and get the AS/400 (9406, model 510, V3R7) to actually use it?  The
EMC DASD subsystem was actually installed into the expansion box (but
was never connected to the system) over a year ago, but we made a bad
assumption that we could attach it to another 6501 card which already
had the 3590 tape subsystem attached.  Now that we've got a spare 6501
card, and we're getting a little tight on disk space, we're itching to
get this installed.

Or is this C.E.-only territory?  IBM wants $200 per hour to do this,
which we would easily shell out for, but if this is a relatively simple
install without an *easy* opportunity to hose the system, then I'd like
to give it a go myself.
