  • Subject: catch-22: M36; V4R4 not available

The great Catch-22 stuck place:

This M36 customer needs to upgrade OS/400. They are at V4R2 and haven't
ever CUMed. They are having what appear to be system issues with their new
ethernet LAN/TCP/IP connections. They can CUM V4R2 -- that's ok. IBM will
support that. But, for the effort, it would make sense to upgrade to
V4R4/CUM (the last OS that M36 works on) but IBM won't sell it to them since
IBM is further up the release road. They aren't willing to have a pirate
copy of V4R4/CUM so what can they do?
